A Career in Chiropractic Healthcare Chiropractors, or doctor of chiropractic, are healthcare professionals who practice the holistic, drugless, healing art of chiropractic. They emphasize health maintenance and disease prevention through proper nutrition, exercise, posture, stress management, and care of the spine and the nervous system. Because of its emphasis on health maintenance, the whole person, and natural healing, it is considered an alternative health care approach (â€Å"Alternative Health Care† 45). Chiropractors use spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage back and neck pain. A career in chiropractic healthcare has many challenges such as: rigid career requirements, unique work environments, rewarding salaries with busy work days, and an increase in future needs. Career Requirements and Qualifications To become a doctor of chiropractic (DC), there is a minimum of six to seven years of education after high school.
